Geni Podcast: Securing Your Genealogy by Geni, Inc.
In this episode, Thomas MacEntee and Grant Brunner discuss making sure that your genealogy is secure. We don?t want to lose any of our hard work, so listen to some of these great tips about security.
How should I preserve original documents and photos for future generations?
Preserving documents and photos is getting more and more attention these days, especially since not only has technology improved, but our awareness of what constitutes ?proper archival procedures? has improved as well.
Some of us remember how we used to mount photos and newspaper clippings in an album with glue, cellophane tape or even those awful ?magnetic? albums that were popular in the 1970s.? Try removing those items now!
For me, preserving my families memories via letters, photos and other items that age and become fragile over time is a three step approach I call ?scan, stabilize, store.?
- First, scan the item to create a digital copy. This can be done with a scanner, a camera or many other methods.
- Second, stabilize the actual item using archival paper, albums and other materials that will preserve the item.
- Third, store pertains to both the digital copy and the original document. Make sure the digital copy is secure on both a hard drive and offsite in a data cloud or other website. For the actual item, make sure it is kept in a safe place where it can?t be damaged by water or fire or the elements.
While there are many resources for archival supplies and to learn about proper archival techniques, one website I follow is The Practical Archivist (http://practicalarchivist.com). At this site, Sally Jacobs dispenses great advice and actually has links to places where you can purchase archival supplies online.
What should I know about scanning documents and photos in order to share them with family? Is there a right way and a wrong way?
There are actually some ?best practices? when it comes to digitizing and scanning your old letters and photos. The best way to learn is to watch others and ask questions. While most of us don?t have the luxury of having someone close by to do this for us, there is an online community which meets monthly to scan family heirlooms.
Scanfest (http://ancestories1.blogspot.com/search/label/Scanfest) usually meets the last Sunday of each month in an online ?room? where each participant discusses what they are actually scanning and can ask for advice. Scanfest is where I learned that your scanner should be set to a minimum 300dpi (?dots per inch?) when scanning. Many of the participants in Scanfest are folks you know from following their blogs and websites.
What I love most about Scanfest, besides being able to ?chat? with colleagues, is the learning environment provided.? At each session I attend, I pick up a new trick ? such as using dental floss to remove photos from those horrible magnetic albums!
Should I keep my family tree in the cloud?
The concept of ?cloud computing? where you store your data online using a website such as Geni, is becoming more popular. Yet many people are still hesitant about placing such personal information ? including genealogy research ? at these sites.
Collaboration sites such as Geni make sense in terms of storing your data for several reasons:
- Your data is safe in case your computer is lost or stolen, or worst yet, your home is hit by fire, flood or some other physical calamity.
- Your data is totally portable. You can travel to a research repository, get online and access your data.
- You can share your data with family. Invite Cousin Ruthie to join you on Geni and you?ll be surprised at what new information she might be able to add.
- With new applications such as AncestorSync (http://ancestorsync.com/beta), you can soon synchronize your genealogy data stored on your computer with your Geni data.
So what about security? Just use the same guidelines you do when surfing the web or checking email: make sure you know the people who want access to your tree, make sure you understand the privacy features at Geni, etc.
What is the best way to back-up my genealogy data?
Just as we discussed at the beginning about preserving documents and photos, you can implement a three-step approach towards backing up your data: original, physical copy, online or cloud copy.
- Original data is usually the data in your genealogy database program, your research logs and images of records. Make sure it is well organized and easy to get to. If your genealogy database program prompts you to create a backup, don?t put it off! Create the backup when asked and you?ll be better protected against data loss.
- Physical copy means copying your data to a CD or DVD, a flash drive or an external hard drive ? anything so that a copy exists on physical media outside your computer. Don?t limit yourself to one method ? many people copy to an external hard drive weekly and then copy to a flash drive or DVD monthly.? Just develop a system that works for you. In addition, another layer of security is the ability to place that media in a safe or firebox. Why place it next to your computer especially if your geographical area is prone to tornados, wildfires or hurricanes?
- Online or cloud copy means copying your data to an online storage site. While most of us think of popular sites such as Dropbox or Carbonite, don?t forget that an online program like Geni also serves as an storage site for your genealogy data.
To learn more about backing up your genealogy data, check out the Resources for Backing Up Your Data (http://www.geneabloggers.com/resources-backing-data/) at GeneaBloggers. And don?t forget that the 1st day of each month has been designated as Data Backup Day in the genealogy community. Place a reminder on your calendar and follow your favorite genealogy blogs for articles and reminders on backing up your data.

Comcast's $4.4B Olympian bid a bold online bet (AP)
LOS ANGELES ? NBC lost more than $200 million the last time it showed the Winter Olympics, and it's bracing for similar losses in London next year.
So, plenty of people scoffed when the network bid $4.4 billion ? nearly a billion more than runner-up Fox ? for the U.S. rights to carry the four games through 2020.
Yet the price may prove right.
The growth of Internet video and opportunities under NBC's new owner, Comcast Corp., should help cut losses significantly and perhaps make the Olympics profitable after the London Games. There's also an intangible promotional benefit to NBC.
Consider this: Even at a loss, the Olympics generate huge audiences. About 185 million people saw some of the Olympics in Vancouver last year. The struggling broadcaster can promote new shows to those viewers as it tries to dig out of fourth place.
NBC didn't pay all that much for the Olympics, considering that TV rights fees for other major sports such as Pac-12 college basketball have been doubling or tripling. For the 2014 and 2016 games, it's paying about the same as it has been. For the final two games in the deal, NBC is paying just 19 percent more.
Morgan Stanley analyst Benjamin Swinburne called NBC's deal an "Olympic win at the right price."
He said NBC should be able to cut its Olympic losses in half after London, as long as viewership doesn't change and advertising rates keep improving.
Beyond that, NBC can create more ad opportunities by tapping sports channels added to the NBCUniversal family when Comcast took control in January. One is the Golf Channel ? convenient for Comcast as golf joins the Olympics in 2016. Another is Versus, which Comcast is positioning as a competitor to ESPN, another Olympic bidder.
NBCUniversal will have about 20 channels and more than 40 websites to cover the games. By contrast, it used five channels and one website in 2010, when it was controlled by General Electric Co.
The Olympics coverage can also help Comcast get higher fees from other cable TV companies such as Time Warner Cable Inc. to carry those channels in their lineups.
"It does not take too much to move it across the finish line in terms of getting more in the black," said Matthew Harrigan, an analyst with Wunderlich Securities.
NBC should also benefit from sponsorship packages developed by the U.S. Olympic Committee two years ago when the advertising market looked grim.
One such package creates a direct connection between the USOC, NBC and the sponsors ? in this case, Citigroup, TD Ameritrade and a home-improvement company that still hasn't been determined. As part of the deal, the sponsors are committed to buying ads on NBC, giving the network a head start in selling commercials.
Because NBC will get rights for at least nine more years, the USOC will be in a better position to make such long-term ad deals, USOC marketing chief Lisa Baird said.
One unknown is how fast Comcast can increase revenue from online viewing.
For the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, NBC ran an unprecedented 2,200 hours of coverage over the Internet. For some fans it still wasn't enough. The network was pilloried, for instance, for waiting more than half a day to televise the men's 100-meter final so it could show Usain Bolt's record-breaking run in prime time.
Starting with the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia, NBC plans to carry every single event live in some format or another. It will repackage the best events for U.S. television audiences when evening arrives.
Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBC Sports Group, told reporters last week that technology is changing so rapidly that the deal gives NBC the ability to exploit the games on every platform "now known or to be known or still to be conceived."
Comcast has been steadily rolling out its Xfinity TV software, which allows subscribers to watch shows on different devices and over the Web. Comcast will likely try to use that to make more money from the games.
Networks also have been increasing the amount of video ads accompanying online shows.
Analysts believe Comcast has plenty of time and the right combination of channels, websites and subscribers to start cutting its losses in 2014.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said he's confident the games will be profitable, helped by new technology and the long-term nature of the deal.
Even for a company that made $3.6 billion in net income last year, losing $200 million every few years is not a strategy for success.
The intangible value it gets for promoting NBC shows may have been a deciding factor in its bid.
NBC, for instance, can use the Summer Games to promote promising new dramas or comedies on its fall lineups. That's similar to the way CBS launched its reality show "Undercover Boss" to audiences immediately after the Super Bowl last year.
There's no good estimate on how much NBC shows might benefit from the promotional boost.
Its competitors had less reason to seek it out.
Almost every U.S. home already has The Walt Disney Co.'s ESPN. It's the market leader in getting fees from cable, satellite and other TV service providers.
The boost to Disney's ABC network wasn't deemed enough to justify paying more, according to a person with knowledge of the bid. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the network was not releasing details of the proposal.
News Corp.'s Fox, meanwhile, is already the leader in attracting viewers aged 18 to 49 ? the group most sought by advertisers. That's partly because of its enduring hit, "American Idol."
Ahead of its takeover, Comcast promised government regulators that it would invest to rebuild NBC. Carrying the Olympics fits with that strategy.
"The Olympics are a ratings builder for all other TV shows," said sports agent Brant Feldman, managing partner of American Group Management. "NBC is a fourth-place network right now, but if you assume the programming is going to get better in the future, then the Olympics can be a jumping board to all that other viewership."

Ways to get Approved to get a Car Mortgage Soon after Personal ...
Bankruptcy and bad credit will make you believe your ability to get a automobile loan will be an out of the question job. Nonetheless it will not need to be. Also, any new loans this includes a car loan can help you to create and reestablish your credit score and credit score history. Most finance corporations won?t offer with you should you be with the center of personal bankruptcy, but they will when it really is finalized while you can then legally get on debt and reestablish your self. Poor credit really should not necessarily mean no credit score. You are able to still get a fantastic automobile loan and in some cases a affordable or fantastic charge and payment. Right here are some superb guidelines and pointers to help you get the finest automobile loan and terms achievable irrespective of your credit score history.
Initially, get a duplicate of one?s credit history.
It is a important action as your credit history could and likely will include some erroneous and derogatory details. It is a recognized fact that in excess of 90% of credit score reviews include some kind of error or incorrect details. This could variety from wrong communicate with or loan info to derogatory debt info that really should be eliminated as it is older than seven several years. The rule is that most derogatory credit score and debt reporting can only stay on your credit history for seven several years (a personal bankruptcy is ten several years). Several assortment corporations and other creditors abuse this law by relisting bad credit with unique loan numbers and this sort of. That is basically illegal plus a violation in the Honest Credit card debt Reporting Act. For those who uncover any fraudulent reporting similar to this retain an attorney and sue the violating business.
Fundamentally, anything that does not belong on your credit score file may be investigated by inquiring using the credit score bureaus (Trans Union, Equifax and Experian). When an inquiry is opened, they must communicate with the original creditor and receive proof that the debt is legitimate. If they do not receive proof in 30 days the disputed details need to be eliminated. The credit score bureau in issue will then mail you a free, corrected credit score file. Be aware, this dispute practice is just not to become abused for knowingly legitimate debts. By correcting the info as part of your credit history you could only strengthen your credit score rating. You will be also entitled to add a smaller entry to make clear any legitimate derogatory entry. For example if it had been caused by a unforeseen child?s illness, automotive incident by an un-insured motorist or one thing which was not your fault. Creditors could get this info into account and give you a greater charge or terms or extend credit score exactly where they commonly would not.
Make friends using the specific finance manager at your community automobile dealership that handles bad credit.
This could only enable as numerous occasions a modification auto loan is designed or determined around the finance manager?s personal views. They might place within a fantastic phrase in your case or possibly a personal favor or recommendation. Specifically if they?re at a significant dealership plus they do a lot of loans. They might have the ability to throw it in with a deal of loans and get you authorized or get you a greater charge. Don?t low cost this, We have personally observed this occur.
The specific finance manager will also ascertain how much dollars you could place down and what payments you could afford. When you are friends with them you?ll most probably get a substantially greater offer, automobile and payments.
Look on line before you sign the dotted line.
There are many on line finance corporations and websites that could give you greater terms and or charge, however you will never ever know should you don?t test. Just search up the key phrases bad credit automobile loan on Google or Yahoo therefore you will uncover ample them. Find a several and see what sorts of provides or terms you?ll get. You should not be surprised should you be authorized, but for any newer automobile. Several finance corporations won?t do loans on vehicles older than five or seven several years or with selling prices under $5,000.
Obtain right here pay right here.
For those who want to purchase a car older compared to variety most corporations will finance, beneath $5,000, or your credit score is not going to allow you buy at a normal dealership (incredibly uncommon), then there is certainly a person very last resort ? the BHPH (Obtain Right here Fork out Right here dealer). These automobile dealers finance the automobile themselves and can often anticipate weekly payments. Don?t anticipate your vehicle loan with them to become documented on your credit history so it will likely not enable your credit score. For those who skip a payment, they are going to tow off or repo your vehicle. You then may have to pay extra repo charges and all payments to acquire you approximately date to acquire the vehicle back. BHPH is variety of like legalized loan sharking, but for some it really is an appropriate or only substitute to riding the bus or strolling. Anticipate higher rates of interest (whichever the state optimum is) and weekly payments of amongst $50 and $100 with a sizeable down payment (often all around $2,000 or so depending around the 12 months and selling price in the automobile remaining loaned).
Now, when you have a automobile loan, tend not to mess up and skip or make late payments. Your objective would be to accurate the errors of one?s previous and assemble fantastic credit score. For those who retain doing promptly payments and keep on to create your credit score, with one to two several years you?ll strengthen your credit score and could even have the ability to accomplish things like invest in a residence or condo and qualify for greater charges and terms.

An Overview of A Hand Surgeon
If you can?t imagine living without the use of one or both of your hands, you?re not alone. Our hands are the main way most of us interact with the world around us. Without them, we would be lost. Most of us are also dominant in one hand or the other and have difficulty performing tasks with our left hand that we normally perform with our right, or vice versa. As such, when it comes to hand injuries, you want to be sure you find a hand surgeon that can get you back to your normal duties as quickly as possible.
A hand surgeon is a medical doctor that completed specialized training. After medical school, he or she entered an orthopedic, plastic, or general surgery residency for seven years and then went on to specialize in operating on the intricate parts of the hand. A hand surgeon often deals with wrist and forearm as well and is highly specialized at diagnosing and treating problems with these areas. Because this type of surgeon is so highly specialized, they are very good at what they do and often do the same types of procedures over and over again. For example, carpal tunnel problems are extremely common and are often referred to a hand surgeon.
Most of the physicians that operate on hands are members of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and are board-certified in their particular specialty. There is an additional year of training to become a hand surgeon as well as rigorous examinations for certification. Further specialization often divides this type of doctor into those that treat only adults, those that treat only children, those that deal only with trauma, and those that generally treat all types of hand injuries. The type of doctor that you see may depend on the size of community you live in.
It is important to keep in mind that just because you have been referred to see a hand surgeon, that does not mean he or she will necessarily recommend hand surgery. There are many non-surgical and non-invasive options that can help alleviate hand and wrist problems without entering an operating room. In fact, non-surgical options are often preferred for their quick recovery time, low cost, and ease of use.
Some of the problems that are brought to physicians that specialize in the hand include carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries to the hand or wrist, wrist pain, and traumatic cuts on the hand, wrist, fingers or forearm. Sometimes a hand surgeon needs to create a finger to replace one that has been accidentally cut off. This remarkable procedure can use a toe or other joint to reconstruct the missing finger.
If you think you could use the skills of a physician that specializes in the hand, talk to your primary care doctor for a referral to someone in your community.

SteelSeries Diablo III headset and mouse: demon slaying flair for your skull and desktop
We got to see the Diablo III mouse as well, and found it sports an ambidextrous design similar to the SteelSeries Xai. Its inky exterior is cloaked in smooth, soft touch plastic sporting silvery tribal accents, and a glowing ember Diablo III logo and trim around the scroll-wheel. Given Diablo's click-happy gameplay, Steelseries gave the mouse beefy Omron switches that are good for 10 million presses (which are backed by a five year warranty). All those clicks are tracked by custom driver software that also lets users tailor the pointer's button layout by dragging and dropping character-specific commands to the button of your choosing. Now that your appetite has been whetted with the design descriptions, here are the details that matter most: the mouse will cost $69 and the headset $119 when SteelSeries starts selling 'em at BlizzCon in October.

Prohibition: Speakeasies, Loopholes And Politics
Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition
By Daniel Okrent

Read An Excerpt
Prologue
January 16, 1920
The streets of San Francisco were jammed. A frenzy of cars, trucks, wagons, and every other imaginable form of conveyance crisscrossed the town and battled its steepest hills. Porches, staircase landings, and sidewalks were piled high with boxes and crates delivered on the last possible day before transporting their contents would become illegal.
The next morning, the Chronicle reported that peoplewhose beer, liquor, and wine had not arrived by midnight were left to stand in their doorways "with haggard faces and glittering eyes." Just two weeks earlier, on the last New Year's Eve before Prohibition, frantic celebrations had convulsed the city's hotels and private clubs, its neighborhood taverns and wharfside saloons. It was a spasm of desperate joy fueled, said the Chronicle, by great quantities of "bottled sunshine" liberated from "cellars, club lockers, bank vaults, safety deposit boxes and other hiding places."
Now, on January 16, the sunshine was surrendering to darkness. San Franciscans could hardly have been surprised. Like the rest of the nation, they'd had a year's warning that the moment the calendar flipped to January 17, Americans would only be able to own whatever alcoholic beverages had been in their homes the day before. In fact, Americans had had several decades' warning, decades during which a popular movement like none the nation had ever seen ? a mighty alliance of moralists and progressives, suffragists and xenophobes ? had legally seized the Constitution, bending it to a new purpose.
Up in the Napa Valley to the north of San Francisco, where grape growers had been ripping out their vines and planting fruit trees, an editor wrote, "What was a few years ago deemed the impossible has happened." To the south, Ken Lilly ? president of the Stanford University student body, star of its baseball team, candidate for the U.S. Olympic track team ? was driving with two classmates through the late-night streets of San Jose when his car crashed into a telephone pole. Lilly and one of his buddies were badly hurt, but they would recover. The forty-gallon barrel of wine they'd been transporting would not. Its disgorged contents turned the street red.
Across the country on that last day before the taps ran dry, Gold's Liquor Store placed wicker baskets filled with its remaining inventory on a New York City sidewalk; a sign read "Every bottle, $1." Down the street, Bat Masterson, a sixty-six-year-old relic of the Wild West now playing out the string as a sportswriter in New York, observed the first night of constitutional Prohibition sitting alone in his favorite bar, glumly contemplating a cup of tea. Under the headline goodbye, old pal!, the American Chicle Company ran newspaper ads featuring an illustration of a martini glass and suggesting the consolation of a Chiclet, with its "exhilarating flavor that tingles the taste."
In Detroit that same night, federal officers shut down two illegal stills (an act that would become common in the years ahead) and reported that their operators had offered bribes (which would become even more common). In northern Maine, a paper in New Brunswick reported, "Canadian liquor in quantities from one gallon to a truckload is being hidden in the northern woods and distributed by automobile, sled and iceboat, on snowshoes and on skis." At the Metropolitan Club in Washington, Assistant Secretary of the Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt spent the evening drinking champagne with other members of the Harvard class of 1904.
There were of course those who welcomed the day. The crusaders who had struggled for decades to place Prohibition in the Constitution celebrated with rallies and prayer sessions and ritual interments of effigies representing John Barleycorn, the symbolic proxy for alcohol's evils. No one marked the day as fervently as evangelist Billy Sunday, who conducted a revival meeting in Norfolk, Virginia. Ten thousand grateful people jammed Sunday's enormous tabernacle to hear him announce the death of liquor and reveal the advent of an earthly paradise. "The reign of tears is over," Sunday proclaimed. "The slums will soon be only a memory. We will turn our prisons into factories and our jails into storehouses and corncribs. Men will walk upright now, women will smile, and the children will laugh. Hell will be forever for rent."
A similarly grandiose note was sounded by the Anti-Saloon League, the mightiest pressure group in the nation's history. No other organization had ever changed the Constitution through a sustained political campaign; now, on the day of its final triumph, the ASL declared that "at one minute past midnight . . . a new nation will be born." In a way, editorialists at the militantly anti-Prohibition New York World perceived the advent of a new nation, too.
"After 12 o'clock tonight," the World said, "the Government of the United States as established by the Constitution and maintained for nearly 131 years will cease to exist." Secretary of the Interior Franklin K. Lane may have provided the most accurate view of the United States of America on the edge of this new epoch. "The whole world is skew-jee, awry, distorted and altogether perverse," Lane wrote in his diary on January 19. ". . . Einstein has declared the law of gravitation outgrown and decadent. Drink, consoling friend of a Perturbed World, is shut off; and all goes merry as a dance in hell!"
How did it happen How did a freedom-loving people decide to give up a private right that had been freely exercised by millions upon millions since the first European colonists arrived in the New World? How did they condemn to extinction what was, at the very moment of its death, the fifth largest industry in the nation? How did they append to their most sacred document 112 words that knew only one precedent in American history?
With that single previous exception, the original Constitution and its first seventeen amendments limited the activities of government, not of citizens. Now there were two exceptions: you couldn't own slaves, and you couldn't buy alcohol.
Few realized that Prohibition's birth and development were much more complicated than that. In truth, January 16, 1920, signified a series of innovations and alterations revolutionary in their impact. The alcoholic miasma enveloping much of the nation in the nineteenth century had inspired a movement of men and women who created a template for political activism that was still being followed a century later. To accomplish their ends they had also abetted the creation of a radical new system of federal taxation, lashed their domestic goals to the conduct of a foreign war, and carried universal suffrage to the brink of passage. In the years ahead, their accomplishments would take the nation through a sequence of curves and switchbacks that would force the rewriting of the fundamental contract between citizen and government, accelerate a recalibration of the social relationship between men and women, and initiate a historic realignment of political parties.
In 1920 could anyone have believed that the Eighteenth Amendment, ostensibly addressing the single subject of intoxicating beverages, would set off an avalanche of change in areas as diverse as international trade, speedboat design, tourism practices, soft-drink marketing, and the English language itself? Or that it would provoke the establishment of the first nationwide criminal syndicate, the idea of home dinner parties, the deep engagement of women in political issues other than suffrage, and the creation of Las Vegas? As interpreted by the Supreme Court and as understood by Congress, Prohibition would also lead indirectly to the eventual guarantee of the American woman's right to abortion and simultaneously dash that same woman's hope for an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution. Prohibition changed the way we live, and it fundamentally redefined the role of the federal government. How the hell did it happen?

The Bachelorette: Ding-Dong, the Jerk Is Gone!
OMG.
As if The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert didn't have enough reasons to cry this season (and all of them start with "Bentley"), the producers went for the equivalent of shoving her face in the mud tonight by tasking her suitors with a Friar's Club-style roast on the group date.
Things started off mildly enough, with the dashing Ryan P. falling flat with a joke about why Bentley was still there and most of the guys just ripping on each other. But then the seemingly kind of sheepish William, who's actually been on a solo date with Ashley, who tore right into her with, "So beautiful, so gorgeous, so used..."
And it was all downhill from there.
?MORE: Last week's Bachelorette: Yes, there was a dance-off
"Didn't know there'd be ppl in the audience??? This roasting thing just got a WHOLE lot worse. C'mon...who is coming up w/ the dates?!" tweeted none other than O.G. Bachelorette Trista Sutter, the only one to be successful at this game to date, after watching the episode.
After stoically putting up with jokes about her small bust and the guys' disappointment that she wasn't either Chantal or Emily, douche royale Bentley was the one who spotted her crying in the corner.
"I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to mess with her head," he told the cameras later. "I hate it when people cry. It's not that attractive."
"Of 25 guys, I promise you, at least 24 of them were really excited it was you," Bentley told her, having already admitted in an aside that he, for one, was disappointed not to see another one of Brad Womack's finalists standing there.
"For some reason, with Bentley being there, I just felt better," Ashley admitted later (to her detriment, as it turns out). "I love the way he thinks. He's just a real guy and that's what I'm looking for...There can be alternate agendas, but with him, I don't feel like he has one."
Sigh...
In an unexpected twist, however, after Ashley confronted Bentley with the fact that "a friend" (who turned out to be last season's she-wolf Michelle Money, of all people!) tipped her off to his less-than-honorable plan to spend a few weeks there to promote his business and split, the single dad decided it was time to skedaddle.
"These tools, these friggin' idiots? They believe me," Bentley scoffed at his fellow contestants, who gave him props for following his heart. (The only thing the guys were wrong about, really, was the existence of the aforementioned heart.)
"[Staying] is not an option for me," he admitted to the cameras, "so I'm going to make Ashley cry. I hope my hair looks OK."
"I don't know if this is going to work for me now," Ashley cried as he broke the fake news to her (the fake part being that he gave a damn, of course).
Good riddance, dude!
At least she gave the dreamy Ryan P. the group date rose and then had a really sweet one-on-one date with J.P.
"Tonight is about me and Ashley," J.P. said in what sounded like a foreign language after an hour full of Bentley's B.S.
Sadly, she went into the rose ceremony saying, "I'm emotionally drained and heartbroken. Last week I saw my husband in the room, and this week I don't know what I see anymore. Bentley was my guy."
Host and voice of sanity Chris Harrison tried his best to make her see the light, that a guy who really wanted to be there would have moved heaven and earth to stay, and it sort of worked.
Ashley nixed the night's cocktail party, having already bestowed safety on Ryan P., J.P. and Ben C., but dutifully doled out nine more roses to Constantine, West, Mickey, Ben F., Blake, Nick, Ames, Lucas and?in a slight twist?William, who gets another shot at being a gentleman after proving himself the worst roaster of all time.
Meaning, Jeff finally took off his mask?he was perfectly cute underneath, of course?and got nothing in return.
Do you think Bentley's departure has ruined Ashley's ability to find happiness with one of these other guys? Or will she finally get a clue and realize she dodged a bullet? Share your thoughts on tonight's creeptastic episode in the comments section!

Stuff Parents Need: JoeShopping.com Review: A One-Stop Shopping ...

Let me explain by sharing with you how I used to shop online.
Let's say that I knew the type of item I wanted, but didn't have a very specific version picked out. For instance, last month I was looking for a "ruffle curtain." There was one at Target that I liked, but I wanted to see what else was out there. So I typed ruffle curtain into Froogle. And waded through the results. I found one other result that showed some promise, but the site where it was listed didn't offer any customer reviews.
So my next step was to go back to Google and type in the specific product name along with "review." Sometimes that works for me to find product reviews, but this time it didn't.
So I decided to buy the original Target curtains. But not before seeing if there was a coupon!
So my next step was to do a quick search for Target coupons. Which was futile.
Finally, I was ready to go make my purchase. After I made the purchase, I was feeling kind of excited, but I just felt too lazy to log into Facebook and announce my purchase.
That was kind of a lot of steps, no? Well JoeShopping.com lets you do all of the searching, comparing, reviewing, coupon-hunting and social sharing you like on ONE SITE. Easy!!!
In addition to all the resources I just mentioned, they also have a section that highlights some current hot deals and bargains online. For example, I just saw some Neutrogena Loose Minerals Powder Foundation on clearance for $2.87 with shipping included if you have Amazon prime. I would have bought that in a hot second, but the only color left at that price was tan, which is about 8 shades too dark for me! :-) You can also add a hot deal if you find one you want to share.
There is also a not-to-miss coupon section. You can search by store name. I was definitely checking out the latest coupon codes for Kohl's while on the site (love that store!).
I think that JoeShopping.com has a lot to offer, but there are a few areas where I'd like to see some improvements.
First, I think the price comparison section of the site has a LOT of promise. I think that will be a place where I hang out! But I do think the overall results are a bit lacking. I find that searching elsewhere for products gives me more options. While less is more for some folks when it comes to shopping, more is more for me. I want to see as many options as possible. I'm not sure if the database of stores is just more limited, but if that is the case. I'd really like to see growth in this area.
Second, I noticed that on JoeShopping.com members earn points. That's very exciting! But I had to really dig around to figure out the purpose of the points. I think they can be used for monthly giveaways, but I'm not sure if that's the only purpose they serve. Clarification is needed there.
I think that this site has a lot to offer, and I think it is going to grow bigger and better every day. I will definitely check it out first when shopping in the future, as it might very well save me some time! If you'd like to get signed up (totally free, of course!), click here to get started.
